The Surrogacy Process
What’s involved in the surrogacy process for Intended Parents
The Surrogacy Process for Intended Parents
Eggceptional Fertility only works with gestational surrogates. In gestational surrogacy, an embryo is created with eggs from a donor and fertilized with the sperm of the Intended Father or a sperm donor. The fertilized egg, or embryo, is then transferred to the surrogate who carries the baby to term.
1. INITIAL CONSULTATION
You will have a free consultation with Eggceptional Fertility to go over how our program works and answer all your questions. During this meeting, we want to hear your story and what your ideal surrogate would be like.
After the meeting, we will ask you to fill out our parent questionnaire. We will then share this information with the surrogates you are interested in meeting.
2. MEETING YOUR SURROGATE
We will schedule video conference calls with the candidates you are interested in meeting via Zoom. We will be with you during this meeting to introduce everyone and give you the opportunity to ask questions and decide if you and the surrogate would like to work together.
3. SURROGATE SCREENING
Your surrogate will be medically and psychologically screened by your fertility clinic. The Intended Parents will also need to have all their medical testing completed as well as their psychological evaluation.
4. SIGNING OF AGREEMENTS
After your surrogate has been fully medically cleared, you and the surrogate will sign the legal agreement. Eggceptional Fertility will also help get your escrow account started after the legal agreement has been signed by all parties.
5. TRANSFER OF THE EMBRYO(S)
Once your surrogate has been cleared and the escrow account is funded, the embryo transfer will be scheduled with the hopes of a pregnancy. After the transfer, your surrogate will have a blood test 10 days later to determine the pregnancy result.
6. PREGNANCY
When the good news of pregnancy is achieved, we will continue to support you throughout the pregnancy in preparation for the birth of your child.
7. LEGAL PROCEDURES
Your lawyer will speak with the court and prepare everything necessary for the baby(ies) birth certificate. Intended Parents who live outside the United States will have their attorney direct them on obtaining necessary legal documentation to get home with the proper court orders and passports. Your attorney will begin preparing the final paperwork with the court system at 20 weeks of gestation.
8. BIRTH
Prior to the birth of your child, the hospital will be contacted to ensure they know who you are and why you are there. We highly recommend you have a copy of all documentation printed and ready to bring with you to the hospital.
It is a wonderful feeling to leave the hospital with your baby in your arms. To take your next step toward becoming a parent, call us today for your free consultation. Miracles are waiting!
